Wailin' Demons - Hottest Brand - 1988 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Recorded at Ocean Sound Studios, Vancouver, this was a riot to make. John Hammond played outstanding harmonica on the title track, The Hottest Brand.

The Demons - 1989 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Recorded live at the Yale Hotel, Vancouver by the incredible Ken Burke, the song Sex of the Gods became a most requested song. Bryan Adams told me that this was his favourite album of 1989

Mark

Mark DuFresne - Out of That Bed - 1996 - Produced by Jack Lavin & Mark DuFresne

Mark DuFresne, who went on to play with legendary Roomful of Blues, made his debut recording on this CD from which he garnered international acclaim.

Best Kept Secret, Blues Harmonica - 1999 - Produced by Jack Lavin

In 1993, myself and friend Mike Shaw operated Yale Recorders making live recordings of numerous acts. During the course of this year I sent for four of my favourite US harmoncia players. Captured on this disc are electrifying performances from Mark DuFresne, Steve Bailey, Mitch Kashmar, and Tad Robinson.

Best Kept
Gerald

Gerald Charlie and Black Owl Blues - 1999 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Gerald is a full blooded member of the Scowlitz tribe, native to the Fraser Valley in BC. He plays a heavy handed blues guitar and sings from the bottom of his soul.

Mitch Kashmar - Crazy Mixed Up World - 1999 - Produced by Jack Lavin

I met Mitch in 1992 when he came to the Yale with his excellent California band The Pontiax. This recording might set some kind of record - live off the floor at Blue Wave Studios we did this CD in 3 and a half hours.

Kingpins

Fronted by the lion voiced Hank Leonhardt, the Kingpins were a local favourite for the pubs and dance halls.

Kingpins - This Road - 2005 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Comprised of all original compositions, This Road features 'blow harmonies', great solo work and the 'big man', Hank Leonhardt.

Gerald Charlie - Out There - 2005 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Featuring a guest appearance from harmonica wizard Mitch Kashmar, Gerald is really strutting his stuff on this one.

Steve Kozak's West Coast Blues Revue - Hoot 'n' Holler - 2007 - Produced by Jack Lavin

I met Steve in 1985 when he came to one of my Yale jam sessions. With a voice perfectly suited to the idiom, Steve plays a fine swing style guitar.

James

James Rogers - Red Light Party - 2008 - Produced by Jack Lavin

James was a 13 year old lad when he appeared at the Yale Saturday afternoon jam with his guitar and Dad and Grandma in tow. His smooth vocal style and Albert King inspired guitar are a pleasure to listen to.

Mark DuFresne - Been Watchin' You - 2009 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Mark and I share credits on all songs but two of this all original CD. After five years on the road with Roomful of Blues, Mark's harmonica playing and singing have never been better.

Marty Bernard & the Bloo Zoo

Marty Bernard & the Bloo Zebras - Tuesdays With Crunchy - 2010 - co-wrote & produced by Jack Lavin

Marty Bernard and I co-wrote most of the tunes on this all-original cd. With musical offerings from numerous genres, Marty writes, sings and plays from the heart and is an incredibly good guitarist. He also shows his prowess on banjo, mandolin and slide guitar. This cd was recorded through 2010 at Garuda Sound, my home studio, and is still one of my favorite 'listens'.<

Sabrina Weeks - Tales From Lenny's Diner - 2010 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Sabrina Weeks and Swing Cat Bounce hail from Kamloops, BC, Canada. I produced this Sabrina CD in August of 2010. We used Crying Light Studio in Burnaby, BC and Fiasco in New Westminster, BC . I used some of the very best Vancouver sidemen to fill out Sabrina's band: Jerry Cook on sax, Vinnie Mai on trumpet, David Webb on piano and organ, and Linda Kidder on background vocals. Sabrina's singing is stellar and her excellent band swings just right. This album spent quite a while at number one on the Canadian Roots Radio Chart getting serious airplay across Canada and the USA.

Marty Bernard & the Bloo Zoo

Marty Bernard & the Bloo Zebras - Beetroot Salad - 2013 - produced by Jack Lavin

Once again Marty Bernard is drawing from his diverse musical influences on Beetroot Salad, his second musical offering. His unique and inspired guitar stylings and passionate vocals charge this cd throughout. Featuring all original songs from Marty and his pals Beetroot Salad serves up roots music with a great big beat. From the bluesy Chicago Bound to the Cajun feel of Ma Jolie and Evangeline, the dreamy calypso of Two Islands Away to the hard rocking Fall Apart and Liars Round Table, the surf sounds of Black and Bloo to some jazzy numbers like Milky Fingers and Living on Luc, there seems to be something wonderful here for everyone.

Sabrina Weeks - I Got My Eye On You - 2013 - Produced by Jack Lavin

Sabrina and company have put together quite a follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut cd Tales From Lennys Diner. Weeks and guitarist Mike Hilliard have penned some very cool blues, R&B, and rock tunes and their stellar singing and playing really put these songs across. The band is a tight knit bunch of seasoned players and I Got My Eye on You shows off their bountiful talents to good advantage. Sabrina Weeks and Swing Cat Bounce have begun to tour the whole of Canada in earnest and are destined for great things in the future!
